NONDISCRINATION POLICY
The Third Space Foundation is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination and harassment, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, can contribute fully, and have equal opportunities.
Every person has the right to be free from harassment and discrimination. Harassment and discrimination will not be tolerated, condoned, or ignored at The Third Space Foundation. If a claim of harassment or discrimination is made, an investigation will start and disciplinary measures will be applied, up to and including termination of employment.
This policy prohibits disparaging conduct based on the following grounds which include but are not limited to any harassment or discrimination based on age, creed, sex, gender identity, gender expression, family and marital status, disability, race, nationality, ethnicity, or citizenship status.
The Third Space Foundation is committed to addressing any harassment and discrimination that occurs in our work environment in a swift manner. Any instance of harassment or discrimination perpetuated at The Third Space Foundation by staff, board members, affiliate organizations, or anyone else associated with The Third Space, is unacceptable and will be dealt with in no uncertain terms.
Equal Employment Opportunity
The Third Space Foundation is committed to a policy of equal employment opportunity and does not discriminate in the terms, conditions, or privileges of employment on account of race, age, color, sex, national origin, physical or mental disability, or religion or otherwise as may be prohibited by federal and state law.
Any employee, board member, volunteer or client who believes that they or any other
affiliate of The Third Space Foundation has been discriminated against is strongly encouraged to report this concern promptly to the Executive Director.
Discriminatory Harassment
Harassment or intimidation of an affiliate organization, staff person, board member, or guest because of that person’s race, age, color, sex, national origin, physical or mental disability, or religion is specifically prohibited and may be grounds for termination. Harassment and intimidation includes abusive, foul, or threatening language or behavior.
The Third Space Foundation is committed to maintaining a workplace that is free of any such
harassment and will not tolerate discrimination against staff members, volunteers or agency clients. Issues of discriminatory treatment, harassment, or intimidation on any of these bases should immediately be reported to the Executive Director or immediate supervisor and, if substantiated, prompt action will be taken.
Reporting an Incident
The Third Space Foundation encourages the reporting of all incidents of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, regardless of the offender’s identity or position. Individuals who believe that they have been the victim of such conduct should discuss their concerns with The Third Space Foundation’s Executive Director. See the complaint procedure described below.
Complaint Procedure
Individuals who believe they have been the victims of conduct prohibited by this code of conduct or believe they have witnessed such behavior should discuss their concerns with The Third Space Foundation’s Executive Director. In the event that the complaint is with the Foundation’s Executive Director, please promptly report all concerns to the Chair of the Board of Trustees.
The Third Space Foundation encourages the prompt reporting of complaints or concerns so that rapid and constructive action can be taken.
Any reported allegations of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation will be investigated promptly. The investigation may include individual interviews with the parties involved and, where necessary, with individuals who may have observed the alleged conduct or may have other relevant knowledge.
The Third Space Foundation will maintain confidentiality throughout the investigatory process to the extent consistent with adequate investigation and appropriate corrective action.
Retaliation against an individual for reporting harassment or discrimination or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is a serious violation of this policy and, like harassment or discrimination itself, will be subject to disciplinary action. Acts of retaliation should be reported immediately and will be promptly investigated and addressed.
Misconduct constituting harassment, discrimination, or retaliation will be dealt with appropriately. Responsive action may include, for example, training, referral to counseling or disciplinary action such as a warning, reprimand, withholding of a promotion or pay increase, reassignment, temporary suspension without pay, or termination, as The Third Space Foundation believes appropriate under the circumstances.
If a party to a complaint does not agree with its resolution, that party may appeal to The Third Space Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
