OKC Youth action board
The OKC YAB is a coalition of young people ages 16-28 with lived expertise in houselessness, housing instability, justice involvement, or foster care involvement who advocate for other young people who either are houseless or will be in the future. They meet with local providers, city officials, state officials, and even U.S. Congressional staff to consult on best practices, policy, and advocate for young people as experts on young people.
Communities all over the country are forming Youth Action Boards to ensure vulnerable and historically oppressed young people can affect change. The key idea is “nothing about us without us.”
